I first started writing poems as a "precocious" child, my earliest being this one, which I later set to music with my first guitar piece, a sort of jazzy thing I guess.
From 1978 to 1990, I wrote all of the songs on the autoharp, hahahah. Once I did start playing guitar, I found that those 21 chords were sure fun to learn on a fretboard, not! So i made up chords I could play, lol.
I do music because I can't help it, even though it kicks my butt. So actually, I don't do music, it does me, hehe. It is my therapy, and my witness. I will keep doing it, because I love it and if you love something enough to stretch yourself and grow, you can face youself. What doesn't kill you... makes you stronger.
And actually, it is the act of creating itself, not ultimately the end result, that matters.
An act of creation is a glimpse of the divine at work within us. Plus, at least one person is benefitting from it, probaly 3 to 5! That's like a miracle!
And that is worth me giving it my all!
*I have written about 80 songs so far and a couple of my songs have been covered.

I have actually been published as a poet (I only ever submitted 3 poems, but they were all accepted; they are, the sky is falling, arrow, and swan). I have also written a few short stories, in the metaphysical scifi genre
*In my outer life, I have been a licensed, working massage therapist since I was 18, so that's geez, 25 years now?!
* I have studied and practiced the healing arts since about age 14, beginning with herbs, yoga, hypnosis and meditation
* I have cool star trek healing toys and biofeedback equipment, and I know how to use them
* In my inner life, I have highly developed intuitive skills, including shamanic and divinatory practices ( this actually began in childhood with prolific dreams, I couldn't really avoid it, so I educated myself about it ); and this includes a pretty deep working knowledge of astrology, various card decks, runes, journeywork, etc.; and I also seem to have innate gridworking skills, both on the human and planetary energy fields. I've also communicated with some interesting beings.
* I have a huge log of dream journals, dating back to 1980s (maybe one day I'll compile them into an awesome book)
* I have a huge log of "rose" readings I've done from 2003 to the present (ditto)
* I have a huge log of electronic healing sound compositions I've created for myself and others, dating from 2000
* I publish my own top level domain websites, having taught myself how using netscape, originally. I use dreamweaver now. (I stopped at the bare basics, as you can see; but it impressed my programmer husband that I know my way around mac and windows computers in a general way, pretty dang well )
* In school I was one of those annoying brainy kids, adored by teachers, who skewed bell curves. I received awards and recognitions in acting, tv production/directing, geometry, writing, speech, soc/psych, anatomy, humanities, biology ( I also graduated a year early. what can I say, I love learning! I did not pursue a formal college degree, however. i went to massage school.
*I have a pretty amazing memory, great deductive and logical reasoning skills, and indefatigable research skills; my hubby calls me an internet google shaman, haha ( I used to publish a blog of anomalous phenomena, but it got too time consuming)
* actually I was told that my hemispheric left/right, intuitive/logical brain functions are equally balanced, even though I am also an INFP. I have also had my brain mapped with a quantum EEG while meditating (I had a lot of theta brainwave activity).
*I won first place in kata forms in my first and only kung fu tournament ( I even had to compete against brown belts, though I was a lowly yellow belt, because there was no one else competing in my level). I took 3rd place in sparring.
*I have designed and taught classes in movement, massage, yoga, aerobics. People comment that they really like my classes
* I have run several businesses, have managed my own real estate transaction skills, and have great finance management skills
* I am an avid book reader, and have a lot of cool ones, both fiction and metaphysics. ( i also love good movies, especially in the sci fi, fantasy, and mystical genres. I have pretty good mystery science theater skills)
*I have a huge rock collection, the varieties of which I know the names. Or I did at one time
*I've made my own jewelry, art, clothes, and sacred objects, at various periods
*I am a gnarly frisbee player, dude, especially "for a girl"
* People say I am a gracious hostess, with a beautiful home, where we throw great karaoke parties ( I also have revelry and masquerade ball skills. I even have a collection of costumes, medieval, oriental, fairy wings, elf ears, horns, and fun fabrics to wear)
*I am a pretty good dancer too, and have done some african, ballroom, salsa, hula, and ecstatic dancing, some of which is incorporated in my exercise class
* I have rudimentary wine tasting skills. i prefer robust reds, like syrah. I can make a pretty good mandarin martini, among other concoctions
*I have excellent design skills. I have designed a number of house floor plans, and some landscape gardens, as well as home interiors (one day very soon we will build my most recent house design, and invite you all to a huge party there)
*I have a fair green thumb, and organic gardening skills. I can make a raised bed veggie, flower, and herb garden
* My family agrees that I am a madly skilled cook. One day I will make a book of my recipes (because someone asked for it :D)
* People seem to come to me for my "wise" and "brilliant" insights, and visions of what is possible. They say they find me "inspirational", and so forth.
My best friend and soul sister Heather wrote a beautiful song about me called "a diamond you are" because that's how she sees me. Heather, you are pretty shiny yourself, girl!
* It strikes me that I have manifestation skills. I have created a lifestyle in which I am able to work at home in a beautiful, peaceful, natural setting, doing what I love to do, helping and nourishing people as I feel called, and enriching myself through study, contemplation, spiritual practice, service, and creativity. I do not have to worry about making money from my skills, so I am freed up to be whatever I truly desire to be. And since I desire to create beauty, to thrive and grow, and be of service, that is what I do. It doesn't get any better than this, except that it is only going to get better, so stay tuned! :) But I am already pretty much living exactly how I want, and I am extremely grateful for that privilege.
* But the skill that I am most proud of is being a successful mother. So how do I measure that success? By the fact that my daughter Chani, now almost 23 and recently graduated from college, is a wonderfully alive and compassionate spirit, who wants to become a somatic therapist and work with children, and who is at the moment traveling in India, chanting and singing her sweet heart out. And she actually likes me and doesn't even think I am crazy, so I must have done something right! :D
* Here's the thing: my greatest asset is that I am blessed to love and be well loved.
Because "the greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return"
So these are my strengths, the ones I can think of right now

As an exercise, I must say that it was totally embarrassing, yet strangely rewarding, and certainly liberating, to list my own skills. I recommend the process to anyone!
